My relationship with MO’s Universe began 17yrs ago when Baja Betty’s opened their doors. To make a long story short, I was the Bar Manager there for 7 years until we decided to open up Hillcrest Brewing Company™; where I was excited for the opportunity to become a managing partner in the MO’s Universe family.
My vision for Hillcrest Brewing Company™ is for our guest to feel like they are a part of our ‘Framily’. We want you to feel that your are at your favorite neighborhood bar and that whether or not you know the person sitting next to you that you feel like you’ve known them for a while. Friendship poured here!

Hello, My name is Jason and I have lived in sunny San Diego since 2010. I had friends that moved out here in 2007, and after I visited them a few times, I instantly fell in love with this city; especially the Hillcrest area.
One of the first establishments I stepped foot into was Urban MO’s Bar & Grill, one of the many places opened and run by the MO’s Universe group. I had such a great time and all the staff were so welcoming and fun! I said to myself, “this is the company I want to work for!”
After countless times of walking by and asking if they were hiring, someone finally said yes; but, it was for a doorman/security guard position. Well, that was good enough for meetups and I was hired in February of 2012. On my first day of work, I was told that security guards could only do security and could not move up in the company. I said “we’ll see about that.”
I was scheduled only 18 hrs a week when I started and within 2 weeks, I was full time and within a month, I was being trained to host. Eventually, I was asked if I wanted to work in a new business being opened by MOs Universe — Hillcrest Brewing Company™. Clearly I said yes and the rest is history!
Now here we are, almost 9 years later, working for a wonderful company and for a fabulous boss. I would have never guessed that this former construction worker from the east coast would be living his best life in beautiful San Diego, let alone running a bar in the middle of Hillcrest!
